Hearst Castle

Yesterday we left Needles and arrived in Bakersfield, It is hot here but a great relief from Needles!

Today we drove the car to Hearst Castle. what a fabulous place. Because Jerry had to take the handicap tour, we had a special bus for his wheelchair and a PRIVATE guide. The guide was fabulous, very informative and you could tell he loved his job.
I Learned that William Hearsts parents were George and Phoebe. What a surprise!!! George and Phoebe are my parents' names. And Phoebe Hearst and my mother, Phoebe Bowers were both school teachers!

Then we drove a short way north on Highway 1 to see the elephant seals. They were great. LOUD barking, playing, fighting, and sleeping. We were really close to them, Boy, were they loud!!! Must have been over 100 seals.

Driving through Paso Robles was beautiful, full of vineyards and wineries. Looked like France with vines all over the hills. Beautiful.

Pictures to follow.
