Lake Athens

Waiting in Texas to SEE

Tuesday, May 11, 2004

Lake Athens Tuesday night bass tournament and special Texas Game Warden tournament. The game warden gave us complimentary T shirts!

Spend the day at the Tyler mall, hair cuts at Regis, browsing, dinner at TGI Fridays.

 Saturday, May 8, 2004

Drove to  Corsicansa, TX, about 40 miles. Visited Pioneer Village which was formed around an old watering hole, now a park, where the covered wagons circled to avoid the Indians.

Then went to the Collins Street Bakery, famous for fruit cake. Neither of us are fans of fruit cake, however the place was an institution in the city.

Back to eye doctor. Jerry can still not see from left eye. Back in another week. Had PC/cell phone checked at Verizon in Tyler. They diagnosed the USB to be bad. Has been working since on second USB.

Returned to Tyler to eye doctor.

Visited the East Texas Arboretum in AM,  very elementary and muddy, not accessible. Ramps were far from parking through mud!

Went on a tour of the East Texas Fish Hatchery which has Splash, the world record blue catfish. Splash is huge and weighs 121 plus pounds and is 60 inches long.  She was caught in Jan this year in a Texas lake in Texarkana.  Looks like a big stuffed toy.  Took a tram ride around the outdoor pools and hatchery. Weather finally cooperated and was gorgeous. Jerry used the new inside lift in the Honda  and Red Rider, the Pride power chair, very well. He says it is very comfortable.

Saturday, May 01, 2004   High of 67 degrees.

Heavy thunder storms all night. Ms Honda CRV is all fixed and Dodge Neon rental car is returned. How we appreciate Ms CRV. Hung out at the campground.
